Six years of practical experience AND 80 hours of formal vocational training
Seven years of practical experience AND 40 hours of formal vocational training
Education Path
Associates degree or certificate from a two-year program in a tradesman-related field from an accredited community college/technical school PLUS two years of practical experience
Bachelor's degree in an engineering curriculum related to the trade PLUS one year of practical experience
Experience-Only Path
Ten years of practical experience verified by individuals who have observed your work

Completed Experience Verification Form for each employer
Certificates of completion or official transcripts for formal training
Valid government-issued photo ID
Completed Tradesman Exam & License Application
Application fee of $130.00
Exam Format and Content
The Virginia Journeyman Electrical exam consists of:
70 scored items
210 minutes (3.5 hours) testing time
Passing score: 49 correct answers (70%)
Examination Fee: $100 (paid to PSI Services)
