We’re building modern, AI-powered tools to help electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople learn the trade, pass licensing exams, earn certifications, and move forward in their careers.
So far, we’ve supported over 20,000 learners across 80+ schools, unions, and training programs in the U.S. and Canada — working directly with both individual students and the institutions that train them. But this is just the beginning.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of skilled trades jobs go unfilled in the U.S. alone. That shortage doesn’t just affect contractors — it impacts housing affordability, infrastructure, energy, and even our ability to keep up with the AI-driven economy. We believe this isn’t just a hiring problem. It’s a systems problem.
So we’re taking a ground-up approach: Rethinking every step of the problem - how people discover the trades, how they’re trained, how they pass exams, how they find jobs, and how they eventually build careers and businesses of their own.

Dakota Prep was built by people from blue collar families. We were raised around tradespeople who worked hard, solved problems, and took pride in doing meaningful work. Those same values guide how we run our company today.
We believe in showing up, figuring things out, taking ownership, and building tools that make a real difference for the people who use them.
