Dakota Prep is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the Dakota Prep Fellowship, a national award recognizing four exceptional electrical apprentices across Canada for their outstanding contributions to peer mentorship, community leadership, and commitment to advancing the trades.
Selected from a competitive pool of applicants, this year’s Fellows represent a new generation of leaders redefining what it means to succeed in the skilled trades. Each Fellow receives a $1,000 award and national recognition for their efforts in supporting and elevating the apprenticeship community.
Anne Lee – Vancouver Island University / British Columbia Institute of Technology (BC)
After a career in Big 4 accounting across three countries, Anne made a bold pivot to the electrical trade. Now a 3rd-year apprentice, she’s the Treasurer of the BC Trades Society and the creator of a financial literacy program at BCIT tailored for tradespeople. Her open-source handbook has grown into a micro-credential course helping hundreds of apprentices—especially in electrical—gain the financial knowledge to build sustainable careers. Learn more here!
Keaton Snow – Sheridan College (ON)
Keaton, a 2nd-year apprentice, is known for his extraordinary peer leadership. From tutoring classmates to improving program experiences, he has transformed Sheridan’s tutoring centre into a collaborative learning hub. His self-created study materials, tireless teaching efforts, and ability to diplomatically address program gaps make him a standout figure in Ontario’s apprenticeship landscape. Learn more here!
Olivia Carre – Niagara College (ON)
A 3rd-year apprentice, Olivia transitioned from landscaping to electrical with encouragement from coworkers. After facing significant challenges returning to the trade post-motherhood, Olivia became a classroom leader, combining humor, mentorship, and technical mastery. She’s known for her ability to raise safety standards on-site and help others grasp tough material with clarity and compassion. Learn more here!
Graham Bergey – Thompson Rivers University (BC)
Originally on a path toward engineering, Graham found his true calling in hands-on industrial electrical work. Now in his 4th year, he has developed deep expertise in hazardous locations and PLCs, and has made it his mission to ensure peers are both safe and successful. His 98% exam score is impressive—but helping most of his classmates pass was his proudest achievement. Learn more here!
“These apprentices aren’t just preparing for their careers—they’re lifting up everyone around them,” said Alex Au, founder of Dakota Prep. “The Fellowship is about recognizing leaders who show that mentorship, safety, and inclusion matter just as much as technical skill.”
The Dakota Prep Fellowship celebrates the future of the trades: collaborative, resilient, and driven by community. With more than 10,000 students supported across 30+ institutions, Dakota Prep remains committed to helping apprentices not only pass their exams—but thrive in their careers.
